A working cidery and lavender farm on the Olympic Peninsula needed to sell online without running a second inventory system. The store pulls its catalog live from their Square point of sale, so what sells in the tasting room and what sells on the web stay in sync.

W12 Systems is the umbrella company for a family of software products and client engagements, including BumpSetCut, a computer vision platform for volleyball video, and CiderPilot, a production management system for craft cideries. We are engineers first: comfortable with hardware and field data as well as the web, and used to owning a system from the first commit through years of operation.
Based in Colorado Springs, we work best with owners and operators who know their business deeply and want a technical partner who will learn it too. Engagements range from a focused build over a few weeks to ongoing development and advisory.

Ben founded W12 Systems to build the kind of software he kept wishing existed: tools that fit a real operation, run reliably, and are owned outright by the people who use them. He is a systems engineer by training and a product builder by habit, equally at home writing a tRPC router, training a detection model, or standing in a cidery figuring out how the press log actually works.
His graduate research on design-for-resilience heuristics for systems of systems was selected for presentation at the INCOSE International Symposium.
He captained his university men's volleyball team for two seasons, which is how BumpSetCut started: as a way to stop scrubbing through match footage by hand.

Questions we get before a first call.
- What kind of projects do you take on?
- Production software for small businesses and technical teams: web platforms, internal tools, operations systems, data and mapping pipelines, and applied computer vision. If it needs to run every day and be maintained for years, it is a good fit.
- How do engagements usually work?
- Most start with a short scoping conversation, then a fixed-scope first phase that ships a working, deployed slice within the first few weeks. From there we either wrap up with a handoff or continue on an ongoing development and advisory basis.
- Who owns the code?
- You do. Every engagement ends with the repository, infrastructure, and documentation in your hands, with deployment pipelines set up so another engineer can pick it up.
- What do you build with?
- TypeScript and Next.js on Vercel with Postgres for most web work; Python and PyTorch for machine learning; Swift for iOS. We stay on mainstream, well-supported tools so what we build is easy to hire for later.
- Do you work with clients outside Colorado?
- Yes. We are based in Colorado Springs and work remotely with clients anywhere in the United States, with on-site time when the project calls for it.
- Are BumpSetCut and CiderPilot available to license?
- BumpSetCut is available on the App Store today. CiderPilot is in development with pilot cideries. If you run a beverage operation and want to be involved early, get in touch.
